Impact Blueprint 137™ (IB137)
A cognition-ignition learning experience for Year 10–11 students working on real problems with real owners. IB137 is a high-impact, two-day learning architecture that brings real-world thinking into the classroom and gives students the structure, confidence, and cognitive safety they need to solve genuine business challenges. Instead of treating students as containers for content, IB137 places them inside a system designed to unlock the capacity they already have — with AI acting as a stabilising bridge rather than a shortcut.
The Core Experience: A cohort, typically between 24 and 48 students, is grouped into Pods of three or four, a size chosen deliberately to raise participation and ensure every student’s thinking becomes visible. Each Pod works on the same live challenge provided by a local business or community organisation. Over two days, students move from uncertainty to a clear, defensible recommendation through the architecture of IB137: a threshold Cognition Ignition moment (137CI), Pod-level exploration, AI-supported reflection, Human+AI Idea Synthesis, and a finale where students present to senior staff and the business owner. This isn’t a simulation or a role-play exercise. Students make real decisions, defend real ideas, and experience what it feels like to contribute meaningfully to a real-world problem.
What Makes It Work: Real business challenges create purpose and raise the stakes in a healthy way. Pods, intentionally small, lower social pressure and increase cognitive contribution.
AI functions as a bridge, reflecting Pod reasoning back to students with clarity, surfacing assumptions and contradictions, and helping them understand their own thinking rather than generating ideas for them. Human+AI Idea Synthesis, where two Pods must align their assumptions and compress their ideas into one coherent through-line, teaches disciplined synthesis — a skill students are ready for, but rarely taught. Teachers remain in control without having to lecture; the workshop is built for student agency, guided structure, and meaningful discovery.
The Prework Plan: To strengthen reflection and lower the cognitive barrier on Day 1, students complete a short AI-assisted prework activity. They choose three values from a guided list and ask AI to reflect what those choices might reveal about how they approach problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making. This builds early AI fluency and can form the first layer of their emerging Personal Ethics Schema (PES), giving students a sense of authorship before the workshop even begins.
What AI Actually Does: Each Pod uses a shared AI scaffold with deep knowledge of reasoning patterns, clarity, and structured decision-making. AI compares Pod ideas, tightens phrasing, surfaces contradictions, and provides synthesis outlines — always with students retaining authorship and veto power. AI helps them articulate, not conform.
Student Learning Outcomes: 1)Apply structured thinking to a real business problem, 2) Use AI for clarity, critique, and comparison, 3) Learn to extract meaningful insights from raw, qualitative information, 4) Deliver a concise, defensible recommendation to an authentic audience, 5) Experience a visible lift in confidence as contributors whose thinking matters
Ready to Run IB137?: IB137 is delivered in collaboration with schools and local businesses. A facilitator leads the workshop, and teachers receive all materials needed to prepare and support the cohort.

'137' Explainer: 137 is a threshold number. Across physics, mathematics, and older numerological traditions, it appears at the point where something stable becomes active or where a hidden structure becomes visible.
Physics: The reciprocal, 1/137, approximates the fine-structure constant — a boundary value that governs how matter holds together.
Mathematics: 137 is a prime number, indivisible and clean, often used to mark foundational points.
Numerology: 1-3-7 reduces to 11, a number associated with clarity, activation, and crossing a threshold.
